“CD COLUMN: Bring On the Music”
Nikki Renée Daniels’ debut solo CD is now available on iTunes. Entitled Home, the CD features an eclectic mix of gospel, pop and Broadway favorites. She is joined by guest vocalists Jeff Kready and Tituss Burgess.
In 2012, Nikki played the role of Clara in the most recent Broadway revival of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, where 8 shows a week she sang the classic Gershwin song “Summertime.” The cast recording is available for download on iTunes.
Nikki can be heard singing “Easy” on Charles Bloom’s new album, I’m Here. Produced & Orchestrated by David Snyder, the ablum features 14 tracks backed by a full orchestra.
A Little Princess is the story of a beleaguered young girl with an unbridled imagination. Separated from her father and the open-hearted Africans who have helped him raise her, young Sara Crewe is sent from Fort St. Louis to boarding school in London. When things go badly for her there, her imaginative powers come to the rescue – helping to transform a drab institution into a place of magic and mystery. As Sara wins the affection of the other boarders she draws the ire of Miss Minchin, the dour headmistress. Sara counters all Miss Minchin’s best efforts to degrade her with the grace and virtue of a little princess.
Loosely adapted from a novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this new musical version was written by Brian Crawley (book & lyrics) & Andrew Lippa (music). The recording features Sierra Boggess, Will Chase, Julia Murney, Laura Benanti, Nikki Renée Daniels, Titus Burgess, Remy Zaken, Morgan James, Michael McElroy and many more.
Nikki is featured on Scott Alan’s album What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up singing “Love, Love, Love.” This is Scott Alan’s third album and features some of today’s brightest Broadway and International stars singing Alan’s collection of music and lyrics.
Nikki can be heard singing “Ready To Fly” on Scott Evan Davis’ album Cautiously Optimistic. One of New York’s latest songwriting discoveries, Scott’s music has been described as “poignant, funny and heartwarming, each song is a deeply personal journey.”
